CHARLIZE THERON has admitted she'd love to take on the role of CATWOMAN in the upcoming BATMAN movie.Several actresses, including Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie and Ashley Judd, have been tipped to to step into the famous PVC catsuit although Hollywood bosses have announced there isn't even a script in the works for the superhero sequel. But Charlize Theron insists she'd love the chance to transform into the feline femme fatal, offering her name up for casting directors. She says, "I think what has happened to that franchise is amazing. (Batman filmmaker) Chris Nolan is a genius. I would be an idiot to not consider that part." The as-yet-untitled project is expected in cinemas in 2011.

CHARLIZE THERON has quit a new film about the first person to undergo a sex-change operation.The actress was slated to play the wife of artist Einar Wegener opposite Nicole Kidman in The Danish Girl, but she recently turned down the role. Kidman will star and co-produce the project, which is adapted from David Ebershoff's novel about Wegener, who underwent a procedure to become a woman in the early 1930s. Tomas Alfredson will direct the film. No reason has been given for Theron's departure, and Alfredson is refusing to let the casting hiccup upset his filming schedule. He tells Daily Variety, "We have been in talks for close to a year, and we are soon going into production." There's no word about who will replace Theron as Gerda Wegener.

CHARLIZE THERON spent four nights in a Los Angeles hospital last week (ends03Jul09) after contracting a painful stomach virus, according to a tabloid report.The Monster star is alleged to have suffered severe abdominal pains, which she attributed to food poisoning. But when the sharp stomach pangs failed to go away, her boyfriend Stuart Townsend took her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to seek treatment. According to the National Enquirer, doctors ran a series of tests on Theron and diagnosed her with a serious virus, thought to have been contracted during her travels overseas. And Townsend was left shaken by Theron's health scare, reportedly telling pals, "I was scared to death. I had no idea what was happening to her, but this is a woman who never complains, so I knew it had to be serious." The publication claims the actress was discharged from hospital after being given a series of antibiotics and is now back to full health.
