Rap superstar LIL WAYNE faces a year behind bars after pleading guilty to a 2007 gun possession charge.The Lollipop hitmaker, real name Dwayne Carter, was charged with a second degree felony of criminal weapons possession and criminal possession of a loaded weapon, following his arrest in New York two years ago when cops found a firearm on his tourbus. Wayne entered a not guilty plea earlier this year (09) and was facing up to 15 years in prison for each count if he was convicted of the crimes, but the star changed his plea when he returned to a Manhattan court room on Thursday (22Oct09). Now, it's likely the hip-hop star will be sentenced to serve between eight and 10 months in prison when he returns to court in February (10). Wayne reportedly accepted a plea deal to avoid a lengthy prison sentence. LIL WAYNE fans were left stunned on Monday (17Aug09) after his show in Canada was canceled hours before it was due to take place.Lil Wayne was scheduled to take the stage in Vancouver with hip-hop stars Young Jeezy and Soulja Boy Tell 'Em as part of the Lil Wayne's Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival tour. But concert promoters announced on Monday afternoon that the show had been called off. A news release read, "The Lil Wayne show has been canceled due to circumstances beyond Live Nation's control." The statement went on to confirm ticket-holders would be refunded for their purchase. A message posted on a Live Nation Twitter.com page indicated that Lil Wayne's show on Tuesday (18Aug09) in Edmonton, Canada had also been canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances out of our control".

LIL WAYNE is fighting off sick rumors he was shot dead over the weekend (01-02Aug09) after allegedly finding himself embroiled in a gang dispute.Reports began surfacing online on Saturday (01Aug09) suggesting the Lollipop hitmaker had fallen victim to the ongoing battle between the notorious Los Angeles gangs the Bloods and the Crips, following a performance in his native New Orleans, Louisiana. The news claimed Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, Jr., had suffered six gunshot wounds after being hit with a 9mm semi automatic handgun. But the rumors proved to be a hoax - the rapper was no where near Louisiana when the incident was alleged to have happened; instead he was touring the East Coast with his Young Money crew. Rapper LIL WAYNE is struggling to secure a definite release date for his experimental rock album REBIRTH - the disc has been delayed yet again. The Lollipop hitmaker, real name Dwayne Carter, Jr., has been preparing to drop the album for months and it was originally slated to hit stores in early April (09).   It was subsequently postponed until May (09), before it was pushed back another month to June (09) to allow label bosses at Universal Records more time to clear all the samples used on the project.   Rebirth is now reportedly scheduled for a 21 July (09) release. The disc features appearances from Fall Out Boy and Avril Lavigne.
