Rocker DAVID COOK has lost his older brother ADAM to brain cancer. The American Idol champion's 36-year-old sibling battled brain cancer for over a decade, and his illness prompted David Cook to postpone some concerts on his tour in March (09) when he took a turn for the worse. Adam's health improved and David Cook returned to the road in April (09).   But on Saturday (02May09), friends and family gathered by his bedside at a hospice in Terre Haute, Indiana as Adam's ailment became more severe. He passed away at 1am on Sunday (03May09).   A family friend tells RadarOnline.com, "Adam passed away peacefully. He was surrounded by his family, including his wife Kendra, his children, his father and his step-mum, among others."   David Cook was due to fly home on Saturday to be with Adam in his final hours, but was convinced by his family to honour a prior commitment to attend the 12th annual Race For Hope in Washington, D.C. on Sunday morning.   ...

AMERICAN IDOL champion DAVID COOK has been forced to cancel two gigs because of "personal family matters". The singer, who walked away with the winner's title at last year's (08) Idol, pulled out of two college shows in New Hampshire and Connecticut on Monday (30Mar09) and Tuesday (31Mar09) respectively.   A statement to fans on his website reads, "We are cancelling Monday and Tuesday's shows to allow David time to deal with personal family matters. Please respect his privacy at this time.   "David would like everyone to rest assured that we are working with the universities to reschedule the shows that are missed."   There were no further reasons stated on the site.
