JESSE McCARTNEY was left red faced on Sunday (11Oct09) when he forgot the words to the National Anthem at a NASCAR race in California.The star was performing at the Pepsi 500 in Fontana when he fluffed a line of The Star-Spangled Banner. McCartney has since taken to his Twitter.com blog, blaming nerves for his embarrassing mistake. He wrote, "Here at the Nascar race! So much fun! Can’t believe I forgot the words to the Anthem! I’ve performed it 100 times. Bad nerves today I guess." McCartney isn't the only star to mess up the National Anthem - Macy Gray, Anastacia and comedienne Roseanne Barr have all forgotten the lyrics to the song on public stages.

JESSE McCARTNEY and RYAN TEDDER have been honoured for penning LEONA LEWIS' smash-hit BLEEDING LOVE - they've received the top prize at the American Society of Composers, Authors + Performers (ASCAP) Pop Music Awards. The duo was handed the the Song of The Year prize at Wednesday night's (22Apr09) ceremony.   Music moguls Simon Cowell and Clive Davis picked the song as Leona Lewis' breakout hit after she won British talent show X Factor - and she took it to the top of the charts all over the globe.   A thrilled Jesse McCartney told the Los Angeles gala, "Being recognised by ASCAP is a great honour as a songwriter, and I am very grateful for this award. The success of this song would not have been possible without Leona's stunning vocals and amazing approach."

Pop star JESSE McCARTNEY once gobbled down monkey brains during a trip to the Far East. The singer/songwriter was in Asia on tour when a guide insisted he tried a local delicacy - and much to his surprise, it wasn't bad.   McCartney says, "It was alright. It was kinda strange, but once you get past the idea of it, it wasn't that bad.   "It was a little chewy and a little bland. It could have been seasoned a little bit more to tell you the truth."
