NICOLE RICHIE and her partner JOEL MADDEN delighted kids in Los Angeles on Thursday (22Oct09) by opening a new playground in the city.The couple created the Richie-Madden Foundation in 2007 to raise money for children's charities, and the organization helped fund a new play park in conjunction with Beyond Shelter, which tackles homelessness and poverty. The pair was on hand to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony of the Richie-Madden Playground and spent some time talking to local kids. Richie took to her Twitter.com page after the event to thank everyone involved in the project, writing: "Thank you to everyone who participated in the campaign. We are giving these children a chance to have an imagination & be free."
