Q: Can you please introduce yourself to our readers, and your role in the group?
Ian Molla – Guitar

Q: How did you get started in the music industry?
SRP Records was the first to believe in us.  They’ve been there from the beginning.  In an industry that can be so overwhelming, their guidance has been priceless.  Another extremely important person to us is David Bendeth.  We met David in the fall ‘07 and he helped us take it all to the next level.  After recording several songs at his studio, The House of Loud, we started getting strong attention from record labels.  When shopping, we got a great vibe from Mercury/IDJ and we ended up signing with them overnight.  I guess that’s when we were “officially” in the music industry.

Q: How did you first come together as a group?
Kevin and I have been playing together for many years.  Actually, we both started playing guitar and bass at the same time back in middle school.  We met Guerin in college while we were all studying Jazz Performance.   Upon graduating we left for NYC in search of opportunities and a new singer.  The search was pretty discouraging, but after several months we met Tyler, who coincidently grew up just a town over from Kevin and me back home in Vermont.  After meeting just a few times in the city, he moved in with us to our single room loft apartment in Brooklyn.  Our sole ambition was to make music.  This was the beginning of “The Urgency”.

Q: What has influenced you musically?
Growing up I had a few cassettes that I’d listen to over and over every night.  The big one was The Beatles, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”.  I love that album.  Another big one was The Rolling Stone’s, “Hot Rocks 1964-1971”.  Those songs have such a vibe.  I’d also listen to a lot of classical piano music.  I think that had a big influence on me.  It got in my bones at an early age and it became how I felt music should move.

Q: What’s your favorite song to perform?
“Hot Damn!”  It always gets me moving.  It’s carries a lot of energy live.  The crowd really gets into it too…I love that.

Q: If you could tour with anyone who would that be?
I’d make At The Drive-In reform for a tour.  I’m just bummed I never got to see them live.

Q: What does the next year look like for you?
We’re releasing our first full-length album in the spring!  I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.  It’s been a long time in the making.  We put a lot into it.  Also, we’ll be touring overseas for the first time coming up in January-February.  That’s another big milestone for us.

Q: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Hopefully not much has changed.  ‘Making music.  Maybe more people listening?  That’s all I’d really ask for.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
It’s been amazing meeting you.  Seriously, I didn’t expect to meet so many wonderful people.  I look forward to it so much.  Say hi.
