“Enchanted” is the classic Disney fairytale with a twist. The movie starts off in the magical land of Andalasia with the stereotypical fairytale story line by starting off with a beautiful damsel in distress, Giselle (Amy Adams), who is rescued by a handsome prince, Prince Edward (James Marsden), and they instantly fall in love and plan to marry the next day. Prince Edwards evil step mother, Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon), obviously upset with the thought of her losing her crown to Giselle, makes plans to get rid of her. To fulfill her evil plan the queen takes the form of an old hag (one which looks very similar to another old hag from the classic Disney fairytale “Snow White”) and persuades Giselle to make a wedding day wish in a wishing well. While in the middle of her wish, the old hag pushes Giselle down the well and sends her to a world “where there are no happily ever afters”.
Giselle ends up on the streets of New York City in the real world. She is lost, confused and trying to find her way home. Her happy, positive attitude about everything definitely made her stick out from the average New Yorkers. That, and her big, puffy, wedding dress. She ends up in the arms of Robert (Patrick Dempsey), a divorce attorney.
The rest of the movie follows Giselle and her understanding how the real world works and how life is not just one big fairytale. She starts to understand love and life and eventually finds her own “happily ever after”.
The Enchanted DVD comes along with a number of bonus features including deleted scenes, bloopers, behind the scenes, and the interactive Pip's Predicament: A Pop-Up Adventure -- After Giselle Lands In New York, Pip Goes On A Daring Mission To Rescue Prince Edward In Andalasia. This DVD is worth purchasing, it is one of Disney’s best fairytale stories.
